Emily and Sue reunite again after three years being apart. Both of their lives are very different and their relationship ended abruptly before Emily moved to Europe to pursue a job opportunity. When the girls see each other again for the first time in years, something ignites within the both of them. The problem? Both of them have moved on into new relationships and their partners were now a part of this confusing equation.

*MAJOR A/U* Sue Gilbert lived a pretty hard life in her twenty-six years so far. Her dad died when she was ten, her mother when she was twenty-four, and she and her sister barely spoke anymore. Things got hard for the Gilbert girls after their dad died. Their mom struggled to get by alone and ended up marrying an abusive man when she was thirteen. This marriage caused a strain between Sue, her sister and their mother--so much so that Sue moved out at eighteen for college and never came back again. Sue was in a long-term relationship with a man named Joshua but had been unhappy for the past year but was finding it hard to leave. She's been dealt her cards and so far it's really been a life full of trauma and she truly felt she was going to have a break down. Emily Dickinson has been around for all of it... every high and every low. The girls met when they were seven years old in school and made a promise that they would be friends forever. And they've kept that promise. Emily has been there for Sue through everything. She was by her side when her dad passed when they were young, always letting Sue come sleep over her house when her step-dad was causing problems, she was there for her when her mother died a couple of years ago and she would be there for her through everything else, too. When things start to get rocky with Sue and her partner, the girls find themselves getting closer. Sue confide's in Emily like she always had and things become emotional and raw between them. They start seeing more of each other, causing more of a rift between Sue and Joshua. The girls become each other's escape from the world around them more than they've ever been and emotions start to get hot and heavy as their relationship with each other changes.

Where will Emily and Sue's relationship be when season 2 starts? This story will be a compilation of some scenes I've been daydreaming about in my head. I grappled with posting this as a complete piece or as chapters/sections, and many people commented to post individual chapters, so I'm going to. Don't fret, I have longer sections coming. Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert grew up spending their summers together in Martha's Vineyard-a small island right off the coast of Cape Cod. Both the Dickinson's and the Gilbert's had summer cottages on the island and they had been summer neighbors since they were young. It had been a few years since Emily had spent her summer there due to college and other life happenings taking up her time previously. They hadn't really kept in touch and this would be the first summer in a while that they would both be there at the same time. As the summer goes on, there's a burning tension between the girls and both of them are feeling it.
