Transfer student Makoto Yuki moves to Iwatodai City, and learns of a hidden period called the Dark Hour, a time when monsters called Shadows appear. After awakening to an ability called Persona, Makoto finds himself intertwined in the battle against the Shadows with his new schoolmates. He meets another new recruit, a new student named Masato Tomoki, another person to awaken to the power of Personas. But this new recruit has a different perspective on defeating the shadow infested tower called Tartarus and the secrets that lie within.
