The land is dark. The sky is grey. The people are crying. Can you hear them?
Amorika was born into a land of death and sorrow. She has known no warmth from the sun, no relief from the wind, no calmness from a river's song. Such things do not exist in her world. In the fortress she lives in, there is no freedom for her. She has always accepted this, knowing that trying to leave would lead to a punishment worse than maybe death itself. But her seclusion has not kept her innocent of the horrors of the world forbidden to her.
The sorrows of the land have always come to her doorstep in the form of either the dead or helpless. Her father, the Dark King, makes sure that everyone within his rule knows what he is capable of; what he has been capable of for nearly a century. He lives in an immortal state, wrought from a war long since past, and the conquering of an enemy now considered myth. But the King knows his enemy still stirs.
He has forbidden Amorika from leaving his palace-fortress for he knows that she is the only one of his many children that has any chance of connecting with this old force, and thus give him a way to destroy it completely and live eternally.
At the age of twenty, Amorika begins to discover that her father's treatment towards her is more than it appears.. Following a path of clues left by a now deceased scholar, Amorika discovers that there is more history to the Great War of old than she ever thought. Within only a matter of days she finds herself running away from the one place she has known best, guided only by the words of a dead man and a mysterious force she had once considered to be myth. She runs to find the place where the Stag is still strong, knowing that she may be the only one capable of awaking the one person strong enough to rid the world of evil and it's crimson stain.
