Trigger warning: Neglect, abuse, rape, death Draco was always looking forward to getting his inheritance, so as soon as he could. He loved the idea of having a mate, and could feel a very strong pull towards his mate. Harry had unknowingly gone through his inheritance in first year, although Dumbledore had stopped it from being noticeable. His summer had been the worst possible, until he was rescued in a drugged haze, when his whole life changed. Due to request of readers this is an angst fic, and I do not plan to go lightly, so be warned. Cover is not my artwork.

Draco had gone through his inheritance early, and as he was always given whatever he needed and most of what he wanted, that meant his mate was the one who was in danger. Mates don't mean what many muggles think they do, they're not people destined to be in love physically and emotionally, they're simply the person/people Fate and Magic decide are the best to suit each other's needs. Draco was going to Hogwarts when he felt a pull to a specific compartment where a child who looked far too young for Hogwarts sat, sleeping, a snowy owl held gently in their arms.

The flames licking the walls of number 4 Privet Drive were impossible for the muggle fire fighters to put out, and were very odd in how they seemed to refuse to spread to the other houses even though they had quickly encased theirs. Unknown to the muggles watching other than the Dursleys themselves, Harry had run back into the flames, causing Dumbledore's secrets to be revealed, Fudge to loose his standing, and a new life for Harry, even if moving on from the fire and life with the Dursleys was difficult. ********** TRIGGER WARNING: As is suggested, there is a bad fire in which Harry gets permanently hurt. In addition to this there is some description of an eating disorder, abuse, racism, homophobia, and transphobia. Harry is ace aro in this story, so he's not going to be in a romantic relationship with anyone. This does have some crossover with the BNHA series, so don't read this if you don't like that.

TRIGGER WARNING: DEATH ABUSE FAKED SUICIDE BAD MENTAL HEALTH (I don't want to specifically diagnose and it's not supposed to be any one thing in particular) DESCRIPTION OF A DEAD BODY The entire plot of this story is driven by a death that is staged to be a suicide, the description of the scene is only brief and in the first chapter, however characters will refer to the death throughout, though not graphically. If you cannot handle this then look after yourself and do not read it. Regained Moments is one of my stories that is more healing. DO NOT IGNORE THE TRIGGER WARNING, I MEAN IT The return to Hogwarts after summer that year was bitter, and the air was dark. Cedric's wasn't the only death weighing on the Hogwarts students, Harry Potter had also died during the holidays. There was no magic involved, so while unlikely there was no proof of his claims of You Know Who returning, but still, nobody thought he would kill himself. Not everyone believed that story though, but nobody with the authority could be bothered to look into it. As time moved on they never felt like they missed Harry any less, until one morning. They woke up and it was just before Harry's first year again, they had a redo, and this time they would save him. (Cover is my artwork)

Harry cried himself to sleep in his cupboard, the cleaning supplies taking up most of the space, there was no comfortable position for him to be in, both because of the cramped space, and the smarting cuts and aching bruises covering him. The stool he was standing on had slipped, causing him to fall face first into the side by the sink, spilling the soapy water on the floor, and making his lip bleed as he accidentally bit his lip badly. That alone would have been enough for him to be hurting, but he hadn't managed to clean up the water on the floor, or even knew he had left blood on the counter that he had to deal with, when Vernon came home. Harry had had no hope of fixing the stool he had been standing on though, no matter how much time he had been given. Harry had given up hope by now that he would ever be happy with the Dursleys, and had learnt how little he could disturb the water without repercussions, but he had yet to give up hope that someone would come to take him away. He would sometimes have dreams of a man who was covered in scars who would always come with a man who could turn into a dog, and sometimes with a flying motorbike, but he would get punished if he said anything to the Dursleys about his dreams, although sometimes he would slip up. He felt a sudden warmth, then he was in a bright, beautiful place. He could only assume he was dreaming because he had never been anywhere like this before, and it seemed far too nice to be somewhere he should be allowed to be. ----- Harry's accidental magic was powerful enough to do what was impossible, to turn back time without a timeturner. James had always wanted to be a father, and when his child came out of nowhere he decided that it didn't matter to him if the boy's mother didn't want to be involved with him or the child they had in at least one future, he was going to raise this child with love and he was never going to send him back. Harry finally gets a life where he's well loved.

Agony. White hot agony that seemed to burn every inch of him, itching to get him to rip his own skin off, but he couldn't move, he couldn't even scream, but he could vaguely hear people laughing at his torment and quiet whimpers from beside him. Harry woke up with a start, gasping for air, he had been having those dreams a lot recently, and they always made him tremble as though the pain still lingered, making him feel like there was something wrong with his body in a way he couldn't exactly describe. Looking in the mirror he saw the same boy he had always been, but there was something wrong, something off. Harry wasn't sure how much more of the Dursleys he could take, and these dreams weren't helping matters. He wasn't even 13 yet, but he was already counting down the days until he went back to Hogwarts. Book 3 in the Mute series.

This is book 2 in the Mute series. First book has the same title as the series. Harry is doing much better now that he's never going back to the Dursleys, and that Dumbledore wouldn't be able to touch him anymore. Natasha and McGonagall had done a sweep through Hogwarts multiple times to make sure any spells Dumbledore had left were removed. Unfortunately, after Predawn started acting a little too guilty, Harry started to hear whispers in the walls, whispers that were talking about things that made Harry's heart pound in his throat, and his blood run cold from fear.

While the wizarding world were led to believe that Harry Potter was treated like a prince, the reality was much worse. It was a shock for Draco to realise the other 11 year old in Madame Malkins' wasn't simply uninterested in him, but couldn't speak. He was even more shocked to discover that this child was none other than Harry Potter, someone he had been expecting to be as cocky as Snape had told him James was, not this small, shy, mute boy. From that moment on, Draco swore to himself that he would protect the smaller of the two, even if his parents disagreed with his decision.
