During her long and empty shift at the family video, Robin meets a girl, a young redhead, new to town, who came across the store looking for help. Over time Robin learns about the girl, Max Mayfield, and what she was dealing with in her day to day basis at home. Later, after Max is removed from the family through tragedy, Robin brings it upon herself and takes the redhead into her arms, adopting her as her own. Now it's up to Robin to learn how to parent the "troubled" teen, and help her get used to being a Buckley, all while dealing with a new menace of Hawkins, Indiana.
