Naomi Corwin, Lydia Freedmen, Fritz Galloway, and Elijah Lennox are all 17 year old students at Edenbrook High School. Having been friends since childhood they are close and are together frequently. After Elijah's father, a rich and influential man, is targeted by a strange and dangerous group of rebels looking to overthrow a multitude of world leaders, the friends are forced to run and are found by a world they never new existed. They are introduced to the ongoing war that is overtaking the mystical place they are in, and they soon realize how much it's affecting their own world. In order to gain their old lives back and save Elijah's father, the group adapts to the new way of life they are introduced with, and Naomi (our main character) finds herself especially intrigued with what she continues to find.
