Following the near-death experience in Greenville, William miraculously survived, but Jeremy has no idea what's next for him. The disease hits a new strain, causing the Clickers to become stronger, faster, and a lot harder to kill. The Regulars obtain much sharper vision and smell, and can sense you blocks away with his back turned. There's even a new type of zombie, and the people call them "The Gouls." It's not even over yet. The Raiders are becoming even more common than the Clickers, causing Jeremy to become more anxious. Is he becoming insane too? In the midst of all this, a new hope arrives. Jeremy gets a call from a long lost friend that tells him about a resistance group that's taking in survivors, which is not that many; only a thousand after the bombs. The only problem is, they have to travel 875 miles to get there.
