They don't make fantasy heroes like Charlie Zappala... And there's a good reason for that. There never seemed to be a market growing up for mentally-ill, nonbinary disaster bisexuals, but Charlie probably would have benefitted from that. After a lifetime of waiting for their call to adventure, the 24 year old has resigned themself to a life of quiet mediocrity, slaying the dragons of underemployment and depression rather than the ones that guard princesses in towers. So what happens when a magical elf jumps out of their refrigerator, proclaiming Charlie to be at the center of a great prophecy? TW: Lots of talk about mental illness and depression and excessive swearing (this is a funny book I swear)
