Everyone has murderous intents in them to some extent, right? With most giants having been past their cravings of devouring humans, some don't. But in reality, they haven't been past it, they just ignore it as best as they could, special pills help with overcoming that ravenous hunger clawing at their insides. But some have more murderous intents to them than others. Some thoughts they can't really control, and may even act upon on.

A wall separates the two kinds: giants that stand higher than sky-scrapers and humans that are no more than tiny insects to them. When Neeve meets Cameron via a radio transmission, the two hit it off more than they'd expected.
