For years, Zora princess Mipha has harbored romantic feelings for a certain Hylian Champion, even to the point of handcrafting a set of armor with extreme significance to her culture in hopes he felt the same. However, she soon realized how friendzoned she was when Link announced his engagement to another, Princess Zelda of Hyrule. Unwilling to destroy such a symbolic item of her people, Mipha's wishes turned to repurposing the armor as a gift of alliance. But with surmounting political pressure within Hyrule Castle, what started as the thought of a simple proposal had become extremely difficult; especially after learning something about Zelda shortly after the unrecognized marriage. With the omens of the coming Great Calamity happening more and more frequently, supporting her long-time friend and soon-to-be-ally, his newlywed wife and their kingdom just might require Mipha to rededicate herself to fighting battles for a man who would never love her back. He stopped in his tracks. Something was approaching. He pressed himself against the Kakariko cliffs nearest the graveside, not moving until long after the steps were gone. A holy light shone from within the graveyard, and a young woman laid sobbing in its stones. When his eyes met her, he could have sworn she'd taken his life for her littlest. ~~ He stood on the edge, glancing towards the castle his father had once been honored at. He looked just like him. He didn't think he'd ever be able to return to his birthplace. But that was fine. Mom probably can't either. ~~ It's been many years now. Everyone who was there is no longer here. It's impossible to move on, but there isn't even a fragment of the past left. She's been told never to head there, but she saddles her horse. ~~ The Calamity took thousands of lives, but it left behind thousands of others. A sister, a wife, a best friend, a son. They move away from each other, and some move from the places they were, all for closure and to remember without the pain. Over one hundred years does history fade to legend, but the faithful continue to tell the legends, not just of one hundred years ago, but of all the stories from it.

The Kingdom of Hyrule had been preparing for Ganon's return since Zelda was only months old. But a now grown-up Zelda stood, well sat, collapsed on the ground of a Neculdian field with the man she loved bleeding out in her arms. There had never been a Zelda who'd failed, a Link who allowed darkness to reign, but Hyrule had fallen dead. The fight had been lost. At the scream of the scared sword, Zelda was alone. Scared, injured, pregnant... alone. But she was the final descendant of Hylia. She had to fight on, even if alone. The future of Hyrule's survivors depended on her, for Link couldn't return if there was no Hyrule to return to. Cover art belongs to Werlosk from Twitter.
