"You look gorgeous, my Princess," he whispered in her ear as their bodies moved to the music. His Princess. 'My Princess.' His Princess. She didn't know if it was the alcohol in her system, but she could've sworn she felt butterflies in her stomach. "I know," she breathed. His hands slid down to her ass, tugging her closer as if they weren't already pressed against each other. Her fingers laced in his soft, platinum hair, dancing to the music as though there was no one else in the room. ~ Do not read if you're younger than 14!

****Copyrighted**** 'Tell me you don't feel it.' He whispered against my lips, and the trembling that had ceased at the feel of his lips against mine began again with renewed vigor. 'Tell me it's not what you want, and I'll go. You'll never have to see me again.' Swallowing, I looked up at the eyes that had entranced me from the start. I took in his every feature, slowly and deliberately. I thrilled at the feeling of his arms enfolding me, and I inhaled his familiar scent with a trembling breath. And then, then I did the most foolish thing imaginable: I flung my arms about his neck and kissed him with all that I had, almost losing myself in the safety and security I felt. But more than that, I ran. I took his moment of shock, the slight loosing of his arms about me, and tore myself away from him, shoving out the door and into the rain. I suppose I'll never know why he didn't follow me. It was the thing I feared most. I knew that if he came for me a second time, I wouldn't be able to say 'no'. I wouldn't be able to run. But I had to. I had to go. I couldn't let him be hurt because of me. He would live on now, and I would marry another. I had leased my last bit of passion in that one moment in his arms, and as I made my way through the dark streets, I felt myself become dull and lost like the creatures bound in the menagerie. **Much of this was written when I was younger and then I came back later and finished it. There will likely be mistakes. Lots of them.

For shop girl Evin, alchemy is an understood part of life. She learned how to brew superior potions at a young age and can't imagine her life without the use of Alertness, For General Pain, and Menstrual Cramp Cure. Though already apprenticed to a local master alchemist, she can't help feeling that there might be more for her to achieve. In a different part of the continent, Master Bricot teaches alchemy at the University of Craestor and is working feverishly at his residency project--translating the sacred document The Facerum--when a student of his approaches him seeking help on an unprecedented issue. And south of Craestor in Daitak Capital, the Seat of the World, Emperor Regent Bryn Beynon can't stand potions or those who make and sell them, believing their use, especially martially, to be barbaric and cruel. His first act when coming of age will be to begin imposing legal strictures on the use and sale of such items. Out in the Wilds of Tief, Craix, who travels alone, has never been safe. Not since she was born. Forever trying to evade her pursuers, she travels across the country, constantly intercepting important messages. And over all people in the realm of Heladrith, a pantheon of powerful gods sits in judgement and benevolence, silent for centuries--but not for much longer. Potent is an original, third-person omniscient, past-tense, low fantasy tale with an ensemble cast of approximately eight characters of different genders, orientations, colors, and classes. --Seeking beta readers for this manuscript! Aela lives a rather happy and unpretentious life as part of the servitude of a minor principality in northern Pelair. Her life changes forever the day she returns from one of her usual hunting raids and finds the villa where her adoptive mother lives, ablaze in flames. Brannan returns home after a war campaign, only to discover that he is betrayed by his own father, who has no scruples or limits in his quest for power. Fate propitiates Aela and Brannan's paths to intertwine in this milieu of war, rivalry, and betrayal, ending up sharing a series of adventures in an epic journey in which they also find loyalty, friendship, and love, leading them to ultimately discover that their lives are inexorably linked to the fate of Pelair. PELAIR is an epic fantasy novel set in an imaginary medieval world. With the action and daring of Game of Thrones and the journey of search and redemption of Lord of the Rings, this novel will take you on a journey of adventure, intrigue, revenge, and magic in which the eternal struggle between good and evil develops in a unique and original plot.
