⸢𝐍𝐨, 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐦𝐞.⸥ Steve Harrington used to be in love with Tessa Hopper back when life made sense-or at least as much sense as Hawkins ever does. She was -is - his best friend, the girl who never noticed the way he lingered, the way his smile softened when she laughed at something dumb. Then Tessa started unraveling. When a particular Soviet transmission is received around Independence Day, Kate realizes that the past isn't that far behind her, and only hopes that this time, they can all make it out alive again.

Kate Hopper thought she'd finally had everything taken from her. With her father gone and her sister all the way across the country, she truly didn't have anything left. Since her father's death eight months before, she'd broken up with her boyfriend Steve Harrington and moved to New York City for school, leaving everything she knew behind. When she loses touch with her sister's adopted family, however, and finds government agents on her doorstep, she makes a run for it, going to the only other place she knows.
