"I'm sorry, am I hurting your feelings because I'm dealing with my mothers big news? Wow, I didn't even think to make sure your feelings were okay! How about you run to Noah, y'all have been getting so cozy since he broke his poor little arm!"
Aspen flinches, her eyes flashing. "You know there's nothing going on between me and Noah." She says in a low voice. "But then again, maybe you're pushing me away so you can have a chance to run back to Seth!" She throws back, and I can tell she's done trying to help. It's immediately obvious that I pushed her too hard.
All I can think to do is laugh, the sound short and bitter, void of any humor. "Stay away from me, Aspen." My voice is cold and hard, matching how I feel.
One phone call, two broken hearts, and so many words she can't take back. What happened that night? What was going on inside Rylie's mind when she broke the one heart she promised to protect?
From Her Eyes will be different parts of Rylie and Aspen's story in That North Carolina Summer, but from Rylie's point of view. Please let me know if you have a specific event or section of the book (even books 2 or 3) that you'd like to see from Rylie's point of view, I'd love to create more for this:)
