"but my head is full of poison, and my heart is full of doubt." - the cure, olivia rodrigo
𑣲⋆ audrey evans knew she didn't belong. her mother was a junkie who married a drunk, stopping audrey from seeing her father. they moved out of their cozy home town to the state of california. audrey was young when she first learnt the ways of her step-dad, the way his words slurred together and the familiar sting of his hand. her mother was no better, too high to remember what she said in the morning.
when her mom died and her step-dad got arrested she was left alone, her father miles away and no way to contact each-other. she was placed into foster care in hopes of someone willing to adopt her. spoiler alert - they didn't.
that was until november 1984, joyce byers often heard stories of her boyfriends daughter, how her mother had taken them away just before her third birthday. she knew just how much bob wanted to see his daughter, knew how much he hated that he missed so much of her life.
joyce made it her mission to get in touch with the girl, she knew she was in foster-care. bob had told her about how it was on the news a few years prior, an at home shooting between two lovers where the husband was arrested for murder.
that winter, adurey evans packed all of her things and was on her way to hawkins indiana. unknowingly getting herself involved with the upside down.
