He hates it at first, but quickly makes friends with two other patients, PJ and Chris. Another boy, Dan, joins the group, but he’s really quiet and reluctant to share anything as to why he’s there. Phil gets him to open up eventually, but the things he finds out about Dan are not as simple as Phil thought they’d be. (P.S. Yes, I know a lot of things that happen in the hospital would never ever happen in a real hospital but it’s fiction for a reason!) Both of Phil's parents are dead, leaving him with only his horrible foster parents and their spoiled rotten kids. Phil doesn't have any hope left, but little does he know his life will change forever when he meets a charming stranger on one faithful night.

Dan is the popular guy who can have anyone he wants. His friend Chris isn’t so sure about that though and makes a bet with him: By the end of term Dan has to make Phil Lester fall in love with him. Basically it's just a really cute story with minor drama, which, however, doesnt involve any of things mentioned above.

He detests silly love stories and petty relationships, posing as 'love', and nothing could possibly change his mind in that. But when new student Phil takes an intrest in Dan, he can't deny that he's interested in the boy. His bubbly personality and hopeless romantic ways draw Dan in.....and might just change his mind in the thoughts of love.

Dan Howell is a timid boy, who always does as he is told. He was once friends with Phil Lester, the 'bad influence' who soon ditches Dan for the popular group in Year 7. After five years of not talking to each other, they're partnered in a project and Phil's wants to win Dan over just like he has with most of their year. But yet, Dan is determined to find out what Phil is hiding behind his arrogant mask.

Phil is an orphan, bullied, and living alone with no friends in a home. He does his best not to let that fact that no one seems to care about him get to him, but it's getting harder. Then a nice couple start to take interest in him, and it turns out they have a son his age, Daniel, but the love they begin to share isn't of a brotherly nature...

Phil doesn't have a best friend in his life. That is, until Dan turns up at his school. They become close and Phil finds out that Dan has a twin brother, but hates to talk about him. It's not until Phil comes over to Dan's house that he finds out why.

Mr Lester is just an everyday history teacher, but when one of his students, Dan Howell, starts to fail his class, he finds out there's an unusual reason why.

Phil starts getting cute, little messages from a secret admirer and gradually feels himself falling more and more in love with the boy. But can you really like someone you've never seen before? And what will happen when Phil finds out the real identity of his admirer?
