Aeryn is living in a post-apocalyptic world. Disease spread, the world's population was diluted by half, bombs were dropped, and mutants were created from the radiation. Simon, the closest thing Aeryn has to a father, is the leader of their formed community. There is no government. Just waste lands. Aeryn is team leader of a patrol team containing three of her best friends--Julian, the boy she grew up with and the keeper of her heart; Sadie, the eccentric girl with a passion for causing trouble; and Mark, the wise boy with an old soul. They go where assigned and they wipe out mutants. It's a hard life, but some one has to live it. When Aeryn finds herself contaminated with the disease, Simon, Julian, and the rest of her team, race to find a cure. But something happens to Aeryn that changes her life forever. And she soon comes to find out just who her friends are...and who are her enemies.
