Being clever in a time where women were taught to sit on their hands has always plagued Jane 'Little J' Alcott. She has always been laughed at and has learned to accept that she will never reach her full potential ... until now. When her brother thinks up a brilliant plan, Little J begins to stretch her legs in the world of academia, a world only privy to men. And one man in particular, has caught her eye.

The Napoleonic Wars have kept Captain Luke Cassidy away from home, and away from his wife and son, for three years. There was nothing more in his life that Luke wanted than to see his son for the first time. But just as Britain can begin celebrating victory, Luke suffers an injury at the hands of the French that will change his life, and the life of his family, forever. Can a marriage between two people that have spent more time apart than together survive such a test? Or will Luke and Isabella succumb to the obstacles in their way? Not everything is as it seems.

Elizabeth Bennet is a 23 year old environmental journalist still living with her parents. She has a steady plan to get out of the sleepy city of Meryton and gain her independence. However, when rich and eligible bachelor Charles Bingley moves into the Netherfield apartment downtown and makes a move on Lizzie's sister, her world gets spun around. Her sister gets a new boyfriend in the form of Charles Bingley, while Elizabeth gets a new enemy in the form of Charles' best friend, Darcy. Pompous car company CEO Darcy and Elizabeth seem like natural born enemies, but with a series of run-ins and misunderstandings, it seems as if the two of them are a little more similar than they'd like to admit. 🌱🌿🌱 Matters of Chance is a retelling of Jane Austen's classic romance Pride and Prejudice. It takes place on the American west coast. It features an Asian-American Bennet family living in a small city outside of Seattle. It has very similar plot points to the original, but adapted to a modern setting. However, I don't think you need to have read Pride & Prejudice to read this! The characters are written so that you can do without it. Here's a link to my aesthetic board to get a feel for the characters! https://pin.it/w8qkJa7\ [50,000 - 60,000 words] #1 in prideandprejudice 6/13/2020 ✨ #15 in Romance 10/27/2020 🎃

He cannot watch her make a mistake of such magnitude. Darcy: A woman as brilliant, beautiful, and witty as Elizabeth Bennet deserves a good match. One better than her silly cousin, or that irredeemable rake Wickham, who I know to be much different from the image he presents to the world. Can I save her from committing herself to a disastrous marriage? Elizabeth: Considering he finds me merely tolerable, the unpleasant Mr. Darcy is unduly obsessed with the gentlemen who wish to court me. Though I have no intention of marrying Mr. Collins, I find myself inexplicably drawn to the witty Mr. Wickham, in spite of Darcy's objections. I cannot imagine why Darcy thinks his opinions would sway me, nor can I understand why I cannot stop thinking about the infuriating man.
