Each day ends with a different touch of heaven or hell in the kindergarten Xie Lian works, especially with such a group of kids. His personal life had been particularly hellish, at least until the new assistant teacher arrived. With a spirited humor and handsome looks, can Xie Lian trust the newbie Hua Cheng will bring heaven amidst chaos, children, and parents? Suddenly, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng will find themselves with their jobs at risk and a singular opportunity of finally meeting the mysterious director who everyone fears. Disappointments are hard, but what if someone can inspire you to search for meaning again? Continuation of The King's Dancer! Xie Lian thought he'd finally settled into his new life in WuYong with the king as his soon-to-be husband/mate. He'd expected the hurdles that lay before them, some of them at least, and he'd even thought he could be genuinely happy again after the tragedy that had hit Xian Le about a year ago. --- Arc 2/3 --- Hua Cheng had just left Guishi behind and was on the journey back home to his palace in Banyue. He'd already been excited to finally see his gege and their two children again, after having been separated for a few weeks because of his royal duties. However, a strange, rat-like creature led him astray into a deep forest, far away from his entourage. Inside this forest, he found a pagoda, which he soon realised functioned as a gate of sorts that, once he stepped through it, led him to discover more about his kingdom, as well as himself, than he'd ever hoped to learn. And to think he only wanted to reunite with his family as soon as possible... Spoilers for all 5 books!!!!

After being sold off to an unexpectedly handsome king, White Lotus Xie Lian came to rather enjoy his work as the king's most favoured concubine. (There are mentions of other concubines, but no description of Hua Cheng interacting with them)
