"For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do." - Romans 7:19 [Y/N] has known nothing but fear his entire life. The uncanny voices and fleeting faces in the dark. The temptations that call out to him, desperate to drag him down into the unknown. He developed abilities most couldn't understand. A Mutant, a small minority of the global population with the potential for amazing good and devastating evil. It was only upon meeting a truly unique individual that the influence which had plagued him so vehemently finally began to abate. But the struggle never ends. A constant battle between the waking world and the things beyond consciousness wages continuously. With nowhere else to turn, [Y/N] returned to the only man who had made the world make sense. At the age of seventeen, Charles Xavier welcomed him into his School for Gifted Youngsters alongside others like him, fellow Mutants hated and scorned simply for existing by the masses. He would learn to understand and use his abilities for the greater good of both mankind and Mutants alike, as part of a team. From common crooks to savage worlds, Mutant supremacists and autonomous robots, the X-Men would face many foes, just as they would struggle with problems from within. The trials of teenage existence. Love, rage and confusion. But with each moment, the darkness grows, clawing its way back into his mind, growing stronger, awaiting the moment the dam breaks and the scar remains open long enough to take control. And this time, the demon won't let go so easily.

Being a hero is a hard task, and not because of tough enemies, or the threat of death, but because it was about making a choice, a choice to take responsibility into one's own hands, and strike out for what they believed was right. In a world filled with far-out aliens and hellish demons, killer androids and super-powered maniacs, being a hero was even harder. From a young age, [Y/N] always had a keen understanding about what he believed was right and wrong, that people who hurt others for money and fame or out of sadistic enjoyment deserved punishment, that justice was necessary, and without it everything would fall apart. The death of his mother by the hands of some rogue gunman only solidified his resentment towards those he considered to be the scum of society. He had always wanted to be a hero, like Captain America or the Human Torch, from the comics he had always read, front to back. Men who held the power to change the world for the better, and weren't afraid to do what was right, despite what obstacles laid ahead of him. However, unlike his heroes, he held no superpower to help him on his path, no super-strength or speed, hardened skin or flaming skull, setting the rookie vigilante up for a bitter struggle. And yet, on a day that would have appeared just like any other, upon the seemingly unimportant bite from a strange, discoloured spider. On a less-than-interesting field trip, he would be granted the powers needed to fight for his convictions. the ability to now truly make those who hurt others pay for their actions. He made a promise as a child that he would make the world a better place, a world where people like his mother wouldn't have had to die, and he intended to follow through on that promise to the very end...
