Curiosity for Spock overpowers Jim's fear of the Council and as the pair grow closer he begins to recall what his life was like before the tragedy that struck his life so many years before, leaving him completely alone. Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't have to be alone anymore.

This story reboots two TOS episodes: City on the Edge of Forever and Operation: Annihilate!. If you haven't seen them, you might want to before you read this. This story presumes you have a working knowledge of both. This is my absolute favorite of my Trek stuff, packed with all of my favorite tropes! Be advised it contains primarily Kirk/Spock, but there are references to Spock/Uhura, Kirk/Edith, and Kirk/OMC.
