TGCF Volume 4 spoilers! He Xuan gripped the wind master fan, it was broken and had blood all over it. Every time he saw it he felt a sense of guilt. Guilt that wouldn't go away no matter what he did. One night he fixed the fan, it opened and closed as it use to. He also rewrote the character that was on the fan "wind." He held it in his hand, holding it close to his heart.

And, more importantly, it happens just a few weeks after the other officials move back up to heaven. Xie Lian has moved all over China in the last 1000 years, but after realising he just can't get into the modern zeitgeist, he moves to the little town of Puqi, where he can pretend the world around him hasn't changed as much as it did. He falls into a peaceful routine taking care of his little vegetable farm and the nostalgic shrine of himself that lies hidden in the forest a day worth of travel away, until one day one of the kids in town catches his attention by being just a little too sharp to be normal...
