Lightholder mages live by many rules. Among these: second-born twins must die for the good of all. In this sequel to Garden of Light, Domi, a fifteen-year-old apprentice sorcerer, has just learned the terrible secret that he is the younger twin brother of the world's most powerful wizard and was abandoned at birth in order to save his life. Worse, his mere existence threatens not only his brother's safety but the lives of every person on the planet. For Domi's twin brother is the Princeps Worldholder, a wizard whose royal magic defends and maintains the world, and Domi's illicit magic naturally interferes with his brother's health and sorcery. If the Princeps dies, magic itself could be destroyed, and the world that depends on it could crumble. The twins find themselves in a race against time to save magic, the world, and each other. But what does it mean to survive, and what is the price of existence?

Surrounded by mountains, Valle is a city cut off from the rest of the world. Fueled by the freedom that comes with seclusion, its people have largely been left to their own devices- a place where humans have lived side-by-side with the mysterious- and powerful- spirits for generations. Fela has spent her entire life in Valle with no notion of her true lineage. Instead, she lives with her adopted mother and sister, using her spiritual powers to help out in the workshop. She may be different than her human family, but the Lodenstones are as close as anything. Still, when their tranquil little city is rocked by a natural disaster, human and spirit alike must deal with the aftermath, leaving Fela painfully aware of her differences. Suddenly, the very existence of spiritkind has now been put into jeapordy- including Fela. The Lodenstones must venture into an infected world- and face their history, to boot- for the sake of a single daughter... and for a solution to a quickly approaching catastrophe that will rock the world.

Working in the abandoned underground prison of the military compound, Ramsey becomes increasingly isolated and strange, and it doesn't help that he's a seven foot tall giant best known for committing a massacre. When Helena is captured and promptly commits a capital offense, something wakes up inside Ramsey. He knows just the place to hide her, deep in the anarchic underbelly of the compound, but if he really wants to save her from her enemies, he has to learn to navigate the complex world he abandoned, recover his repressed memories of what drove him mad - and who exploited it - and reclaim his power before it's too late. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This dystopian series features an unapogetically hypermasculine society and extremely dark themes which may be disturbing to some readers. Abandon all political correctness, all ye who enter here.
