(The characters of this story appear as they are at present, in the year 2016, month of April.) He came in like every other student. His hair looked unbelievably soft, his eyes a color of blue no computer could ever simulate. His strides were short and his height was below average, but he still managed to hold the confidence of Goliath. Whenever he spoke, it was dry. A type of rasp that I couldn't place. It was pitchy like a girl's voice, yet it never faltered. Words left his lips like silk, slipping past his thin, pink lips like my chances to ever be with the boy. The realization pricked my heart. Similar to the pain I imagined would result from me caressing his sharp cheekbones. He had only been there but a moment and the swarm had welcomed him like their long lost Messiah. I was the follower that held no standing. The boy who never had a chance but always tried anyway. Because, he was the flawless. And I was yesterday's news.
