Casandra Shelby, or 'Cass', is the oldest female Shelby sibling. She was born in between Tommy and Ada, meaning she is 27 years old. She is very close with Tommy, John's kids, and Polly. Everyone else just sort of exists around her. When her brothers stepped up to fight in the war, she wanted to as well. But since there were no female soldiers, she ended up being a battlefield nurse. She cared for hundreds of soldiers, nursing most of them back to health. However, one soldier stood out from the rest. They ended up falling in love, but when the war ended, they never found each other. They both went back to their old lives, assuming the worst had happened to the other.
