Will has been struggling with nightmares, throw a storm on top of that, and he's just straight up not having a good time. Good thing Horace is there to sleep right through it, and Halt is there to help him out.

Will has gone through many tough things in his life. After Gilan calls him on a mission to a new land they have just discovered. Will goes missing.

When Will and Halt return from Skandia, the young apprentice isn't quite the boy he used to be. Plagued with nightmares of the horrors he had witnessed in the icy land and burdened with memories he's trying desperately to forget, Will finds himself turning to his mentor for help and comfort. Halt, for his part, is doing everything he can to bring the boy back to his cheerful, carefree self. But it isn't always easy. This is a side of the Ranger's Apprentice series that we never got to see. The parts where battles were fought against not armies, but one's own mind. And where winning wasn't always a given. But as Will fights against the darkness, he learns that he isn't alone. He has his friends, and most importantly, he has Halt. And in the grim faced Ranger alone, he finds a mentor, friend and father. Note: This is primarily set between Book 4 and 5 of the series. There will however be random one shots here and there in different timelines that capture various moments, relationships and memories. I welcome requests!

When two Rangers mysteriously go missing it's up to Halt and Will to find them. However things don't go as planned and soon they find themselves trapped in the clutches of a past enemy, the Genovesans. While imprisoned they learn that the assassins are in league with the Temujai who plan on invading Araluen. Will they be able to escape... or is this the end?
