I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. In a world where magic supposedly didn't exist, Serena has spent years struggling to conceal her unpredictable singing magic. While wishing for a peaceful life where she can sing without fear, she sees a man in handcuffs being forced into a shady research center. Their eyes meet, and the soulbond is forged. Darien is not from this world, and he's been held captive for years. With the soulbond amplifying his strength, he can fight his way through almost everything, but not every danger can be fought with fists. Their love draws them together even as power-hungry enemies try to pry them apart. They want to control Darien for their own purposes, but he's too strong to be controlled by force. Their love is their greatest strength-and their biggest vulnerability. But magic has its own rules, and no song can go unanswered. Excerpt: I pitied the man, although with so many cops around him, he was quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who in handcuffs and leg shackles? I watched him walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes met. I had never seen such blue eyes before-and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to make out the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --- Fade-to-black action fantasy romance Copyright November 2017. "What are you doing here," he asked in bitterness making me curl my fingers and dig my nails in my palm in fear. "I. I just came to keep it" I stammered while not daring to look into his gray cold eyes. Without saying anything he moved in my direction and took the envelope and tore it into small pieces while looking straight into my wide fearful eyes. Then he threw torn pieces in my face. He grabbed my upper arm in a tight grip and dragged me near him making a gasp left out of my mouth. "Do you think after deceiving me you can get away from me this easily?" he asked in his cold voice making goosebumps form all over my body. I swallowed and said the words which I have said a thousand times to him before. "I'm sorry" I whispered in my small voice. Listening to it his eyes became darker. I should have not disguised myself as a boy to get this job. "You should be," he said in his cold voice while letting go of my arm and trying to control his anger. "If you're so sorry about it then sign these papers and let me decide how sorry you are after betraying me," he said in his cold angry voice while throwing paper on his desk. I just kept looking at the file with teary eyes. "Why now you don't feel sorry anymore" he mocked me. If me signing this paper will let him know how I regret doing it then I will sign them. With glassy eyes, I took the file and pen and signed the papers without even reading them. I just want to get away from him. I turned to get out of his life but he grabbed my wrist in a firm grip and pulled me back to his hard chest. I didn't want to cry in front of him but a long traitor tear slipped from the corner of my left eye. "Now I will show you what I do to the liars," he said in his cold voice with an angry smirk on his lips while wiping the long trail of tears away from my cheeks. His words pass a shiver to my whole body making me look at him with glassy eyes. What have I caught myself into after signing those papers without reading?

* 'I-I am sorry your highness I touched ...!' She was trying to apologize, but she fell silent as she could not utter with her mouth that she accidentally touched his lips. 'But I am not sorry!' He said calmly looking straight at her. What was she supposed to say after hearing his words? 'I did not mean to touch your highness's ...' she said with great difficulty. 'That was not a touch.' He said not permitting her to brush it off as an accident, even though it clearly was. 'It was a kiss.' He said with a hoarse determined voice. She widened her eyes, as her face flushed even more than it did when she realized what she had done. He dared to say the word she avoided. 'That was not! I...' she tried to refute. 'What is a kiss Celia?' She could not answer. How could she say the definition of a kiss with her own mouth, it would only confirm his words. * 'It was an accident. I am truly sorry, I did not mean any discourtesy towards your highness. If I can make up for my error somehow?' She quickly said. She did not know of his personal life, as he had a tight security around him and nobody knew much of the king outside official visits and business. He must have felt insulted. 'Please don't call it an accident. For a first kiss of a person to be called an accident ...' He said again with a dejected tone, but did not continue. It was like he had already gotten his point across. 'Ahhh. I am so sorry! It really was an ...' She wanted to say accident but, because of his pleading she could not actually say it. To have committed the blame of taking the king's first kiss and then not acknowledging it, how would he think of her? At this point she did not even realize that their roles had reversed, or that it was her first kiss also. PS: If you like loyal mates... then please proceed further :D
