Atticus Taylor and Oakley Owens couldn't be more different. Atticus is the golden boy-star athlete, top student, and his mom's pride and joy. Oakley, his sarcastic and rebellious stepbrother, stays out of the spotlight, content to roll his eyes at Atticus's perfect image. The two share a roof, but little else, constantly butting heads and living their own separate lives.
But when Atticus's seemingly perfect world is turned upside down by a devastating medical diagnosis, the walls between them begin to crack. Struggling to keep up with school, the wrath of his father, uncertain about his future, and questioning his own identity, Atticus is forced to confront the truths he's been avoiding-not just about his health, but about who he is and who he might want to be.
Oakley, meanwhile, finds himself stepping out of his comfort zone, forced to reconcile his resentment with an undeniable desire to be there for his stepbrother. In the process, he begins to see Atticus in a new light, realizing there's more to their bond than sibling rivalry and shared family chaos.
As Atticus navigates the uncertainties of life, school, and his sexuality, and Oakley learns to open his heart, the two stepbrothers must decide if they're willing to stop fighting each other and start fighting for each other instead.
