Despite being 10y old when travelling the world in Pokémon-anime-canon, I have decided that did not happen in this universe. With other words, the Pokémon-anime characters (Ash, Gary, etc.) are inexperienced trainers starting their Pokémon journey at ANHS. That's to keep things balanced. (All characters have their age altered to fit in the same year and are otherwise unchanged. Characters are taken from before the events of their anime, so Light doesn't have the Death Note and Lelouch doesn't have Geass.)
