The claim of a king overrules everything. Except the heart. . "He's untouchable and there's a reason for that." "Why?" I press on, the lady gives me a scrutinizing look. "You ask too many questions." "And you don't give enough answers." I reply, sick of her word games. She huffs, placing her book down on her desk. "Listen here and listen good, there's a reason he's so alone. There's something inside him, something dark and twisted that caused him to snap all those years ago. Something that can't be cured, it's a sickness of the heart. Don't be foolish and try helping him, he's not just any man. He's The King." She motions me to come closer. "And he could have our heads for simply having this conversation."

Elizbeth Anne Humphrey wants a husband. Her expectations are not outlandish; all she asks is that he be reasonably handsome, reasonably wealthy and completely kind. Her brothers have offered their assistance, and it's given her hope that perhaps there is a man out there who might want her for a wife. But alas, the first man she meets after recommitting to the battle against spinsterhood is reasonably handsome, reasonably naked and completely soaked through and stranded on their front steps. He also has a head-wound and no memory of who he is, but Elizabeth Humphrey has larger mysteries to solve; namely, the mystery of who she might marry. **Only the bonus chapter is paid, the rest of the story is (and will stay) free!!** Libby Marks-Whelan is decidedly not a lady. Kicked out of nearly every finishing school in the country, she's shocked when her demure, straight-laced cousin Ella invites her to the royal court as attendant during her debutante season. What Ella fails to realize, however, is that Libby's brand of mischief is exactly the kind of distraction Prince Andrew is looking for during his inaugural season as an eligible bachelor.
