A werewolf's life is dangerous enough for an adult with a pack, but Sammy's family was murdered when he was only ten years old. Terrified, he ran away from foster care and spent several years homeless, only for his worst fear to become reality: he was discovered, and taken by a pharmaceutical corporation for horrific, inhumane experiments before he was rescued by other werewolves. But now that he's been rescued and adopted by a pack, he has a chance to start a new life. Now, can a sixteen-year-old lone wolf, ignorant of his kind's strict laws, adapt to life as part of a community, overcome his traumas and anxieties, and form the bonds he so desperately needs with his new family? This is a story about love and loss, wrath and redemption, blood and water. This is a story about survival. Cover art by Vanessa "Sidonie" Hughes

How To Write A Short Story in 7 Days is an introductory toolkit for novice writers looking to take their first foray into the format. It's also useful for intermediate writers who want to hone their craft or professionals looking to expand their skill set. This book was designed in house by the Needle In The Hay editorial team as a resource for writers competing in our weekly contests. With about 3000 short stories read, written and edited at Needle In The Hay since 2012, we think we're in a pretty good position to know what makes a great short story, and we're excited to share the love. While there's no one size fits all method for writing stories, these techniques are a great starting point. Like all skills, the more you practice, the better you get.

Book 1 in the Deviant Creatures Series In the slums of New York City an underground prison sat. The City that Never Sleeps wasn't all it seemed, ruled by the society of the supernatural, the gang wars were pack wars, the drug dealers were carriers for money hungry beasts. But in the midst of all the chaos sat the prison. Everest Peak Penitentiary was renowned for being the most dangerous werewolf prison in the States, all of the traitors, tyrants, and hellions went there. The worst of the worst. Only the strongest survived. You had to fight your way to the top, past the plotting twats and bloodthirsty savages. Right up to the top, to the throne. It was known for that she-wolves never go to Everest. Save for the exception of Olympe Tryker. For years she had been the talk of the supernatural, her crimes horrid, her temper even worse. At the young age of fifteen she had been incarcerated into Everest. And she, like everyone else there, learned the hard way. It was kill or be killed. •Warning - Mature Themes• •cover by Deviation-•

In the kingdom of Elliscana, people are separated by the markings they bare from birth: Sight, Song and Swift, Mind, Matter and Motion. Those marked with one of the three Emblems are of the noble people that rule Elliscana, while those marked with one of the three Symbols are those who serve. Aspyn Faye finds herself stuck on a line between the two separated worlds. By her twentieth birthday, Aspyn is more than used to having no mark or ability of her own, hidden from the people of Elliscana, where it is a crime punishable by death to be abnormal. But after a noble encounter and tragic loss, Aspyn finds something completely new and unique within herself. A new power pushes Aspyn into the the protection of a Princess, the arms of a Prince and into the resistance conspiring against the crown. Can Aspyn use her power to bring balance to the kingdom or will she let it turn her into something darker than anyone could expect? In a world she can no longer trust, Aspyn can either become an unmarked saviour or an unmarked monster. Both are deadly and both are inevitable. Follow Aspyn as she changes her world, her heart and her kingdom forever.

Penelope is strange. She dislikes normal, likes to dress as a Victorian lady, and is haunted by lost souls like a magnet. She lives in a cottage with her cool, older, hip sister just outside of their town, Grey Waters. They're normal girls at day, but at night, they become the strange. Xander is deadly. He hates weak people, likes to wear all black, has some anger problems, and feasts upon the lost souls, sending them to the unknown. When Xander feels a strong pull of lost souls coming from Grey Waters, he immediately goes to investigate, taking his ego-filled brother with him. But with each lost soul he sends, the dark part of the soul stays attached. To him. Except, when Xander sets his eyes on Penelope, it's like a flicker of light. There's something strange about her. She is a flame in the dark. But it won't be long before Xander becomes consumed in the souls darkness and Penelope is hoarded by them.
