[LOTF AGED UP X OC]
"You were waiting for this moment to be free. Blackbird fly."
On a remote island swallowed by jungle and storm, survival is no longer a question of rules, but of instinct. Years after a catastrophic plane crash, Tala Marlowe is the only known survivor left of a forgotten disaster. Raised in isolation from the age of four, she has learned to live by the rhythms of the island instead of the rhythms of people: reading the wind before it turns, following animal trails to water and speaking more often to silence than to anything human. When a second plane falls from the sky, carrying a group of boys who believe they are the first to be stranded here, everything changes. They arrive expecting emptiness. Instead, they find her.
Tala does not belong to their world of conch shells, rules and fragile leadership. She is something older now, half memory, half warning, unwilling or unable to fully step back into society as they know it. To some, she is a guide. To others, an obstacle. And as order among the boys begins to fracture into fear and power struggles, her presence becomes impossible to ignore. Because the island remembers what it takes to survive. And so does she.
