[PREVIEW ONLY] No one knows the real identity of the hospital's Plague Saint is sixteen-year-old Winter Pierce. No one knows she's a fraud. And no one knows she's a killer. While floods and heat waves devastate the southern lands, the northern cities face blizzards and plagues. Up until two weeks ago, the Plague Saint of Devil's Pass was a real doctor. But when Winter learned he was only saving the rich and planned to let her mother die, she confronted him. And killed him. The death was an accident, but taking his place to save lives was a choice. Then, Winter's forced to kill again to save her brother. Her double life, already doomed to fail, is complicated further when her assistant insists on tracking down the murderer. Attempting to cover her tracks leaves Winter tangled in a political web. All the while, people are getting sicker, and trying to find the cure leads her to an enemy far smarter and more dangerous than she is. Powerful people want to see Winter fail. There's more to the plagues than meets the eye. Winter is rapidly running out of time, but she's determined to save her brother from death and her city from corruption. And she'll kill anyone who gets in her way.

The RE÷Union roadmap includes five novels as cannon, spanning the 1830s, 40s, 50s, Civil War, and Reconstruction. We start the series with a long lost friend of the Miller family, holed up in a dilapidated cabin, nestled high in the mountains of Colorado around 1885. Staving off the symptoms of a terminal sickness, thoughts become overwhelming and reality sets in that this story is going to die too, in that old cabin, which will probably rot into nothingness, the family's secrets and hidden possessions along with it. Rummaging through crates and boxes of old artwork, journals, photographs and publications, it becomes clear how important this story is. There indeed still is a legacy to leave behind. These heroes (and a few villains) should not be relegated to the stodgy, mundane existence that the general populace insists they knew. What follows is an attempt to piece together the adventure this family shared, across the continent of America and around the world, witnessing unimaginable social and technological change, tied within a network of stunningly courageous and creative family and friends. Premise I was forced against my will to summarize the premise of RE÷Union as follows (to be used as a pitch in an elevator or some other awkward social setting): An adventurous writer-artist duo conspires to share hidden stories about explosive cultural change and westward expansion in the decades leading up to the American Civil War.

||2022 WATTYS WINNER|| A scholar boy who denies the existence of elemental magic. A hidden princess who can control all seven elements. A mystical quill capable of rewriting both of their destinies. In the realm of Rainier where magic should no longer exist, eighteen-year-old Sebastian d'Aximos, a nobody scholar from an insignificant fishing village, finds himself accused by the Salvera Crown for using forgotten elemental magic to murder his own mother. There exists one problem with the Crown's theory, however; magic resides only in the Scribal legends about the Authors of Old, a rare race of humans who controlled the seven elements by weaving elemental threads into storybooks called Monvertas. But the Monvertas are myths; they have never been real. Yet, when Sebastian's soul cries out to the hidden heir of Rainier's Crown, Astrid Salvera, his beliefs in logic and facts are challenged. Because Astrid controls the seven elements, and she and her mother have worked to release magic back to their kingdom since it had been stolen by the enemy lands of Soleita two decades previously. Together, Sebastian and Astrid must work to find a mystical, hidden artifact: the Black Quill. A tool used by the original Author to unlock the Monverta and release its magical secrets. A tool that could redeem the realms of their world and reinstate magic. Ancient myths, prophecies of saviours and villains, and deadly trials by elements awaken to meet both Sebastian and Astrid as they work to unveil the secrets hidden from Rainier and learn the dark truths of each other. **Book 2 OUT NOW!**
