The same story you know and love. Follow the beginnings of Octavia Jones' story and re-experience the road to the harrowing events of the 74th Hunger Games with enhanced and revised insight. This is a re-write of the beginning chapters (Act I) of my story "Our Love Could Be Lethal". This "book" will temporarily house the rewritten chapters until the entirety of Act I is complete, after which it will be uploaded into the main story and replace the current Act I. But in the meantime, please check in here for new and improved versions of the chapters that started it all. Cover by: @hpsisterpjsister

CURRENTLY ON YEAR 1: Ella Creevey and the Lost Stone. Ella Creevey's life became bleak on May 2nd, 1998. Her eldest brother went to fight for what he believed in only to never come back. She knows full well that he would still be alive if he hadn't received that letter on his eleventh birthday, and where she once dreamed of going to Hogwarts with her brothers, she now loathes the Wizarding World and all it stands for. On August 10th, 1998, an owl drops a letter through her bedroom window with a familiar seal and her heart sinks into her stomach. Now heading to Hogwarts, she's determined not to get swept up in the magic her brothers always described to her. It's a death sentence. The world, however, doesn't always work in her favour.

Though deemed power-hungry and warmongering by those fortunate enough to live outside of its rule, to Gaia Machina, it was home. Well, "home" was a stretch. Initially planned to be an espionage unit more akin to an android than her MT brethren, budget limitations reduced Gaia to just another pawn used for more destruction. That was, until a chance fight outside of Insomnia, Lucis's capital, gave her the opportunity she needed for her own freedom. She was finally able to make her own choice: to take her own side and forge her own path- a path of redemption. Throwing caution to the wind and hiding her magitek nature, she set off to join Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum in finally bringing an end to Niflheim's destruction. However, walls eventually crumble, no matter what. Her act can only be held up for so long before her new friends realize she isn't exactly the hunter she claimed to be. It also seemed that fate had more in store for the rogue magitek than just helping the Chosen King fulfill his destiny. Reminders of her past, brought into a new light by her choices in the present. Gaia certainly wasn't programmed for this. (I do not own Final Fantasy XV, I only own Gaia Machina) ~~~ Highest Ranks: #16 in "final" (12/10/2025, out of 15.9k stories) #76 in "finalfantasy" (2/14/2022, out of 2.6k stories) #170 in "ocxcanon" (1/11/2022, out of 4.4k stories) #35 in "ffxv" (10/28/2025, out of 1.28k stories) #1 in "ff15" (12/7/2022, out of 204 stories)
