Born in the Balkans(what later would be Serbian), her Christian name was Mina Pavlović before she was captured and brought to the Ottoman Empire, to Manisa and to the harem of Sehzade Suleiman. A year after Sehzade Mustafa was born, Mina would give birth to a daughter named Zeynep and would surprise many, including Suleiman himself when she was happy with a girl instead of a boy being born.
