Bucky is gone, vanished, liked a shadow thrown by a passing cloud. And Amelia is left recovering from her recent injuries, the injuires she earned as a result of helping Bucky save his best friend, and now she's left questing the very foundations of their relationship. Why would he leave? Did he use her? Did he ever love her in the first place? However, other matters rise to the surface as the Avengers receive political pressure to join a new system of accountability which causes the team to fall apart. And after finding out that Bucky is apparently involved in another terrorist attack, will their relationship ever be the same? Which side will she take during this new found civil war?

Sequel to You Are Not a Monster (so if you haven't read that, STOP HERE because you need to read it first). After Steve finds Bucky at the Smithsonian exhibit, he takes him back to the Avengers Tower in hopes of fixing his broken friend. Of course, things don't go exactly as planned, and a rescue mission of some sort is in order. However, they face an unexpected enemy along the way.

Confused, the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky, wonders around the streets of New York. He can't go back to HYDRA, they would wipe his memory again. And he wants to remember. He want's to remember who Steve was, the man that he was ordered to kill but was also claimed to be his best friend. He somehow stumbles into a woman's apartment named Amelia, looking for medical help, and for some reason, Amelia decides to help him. As she finds out more about him, she decides to teach him how to live like a human in the 21st century and also helps him to remember his past. But disaster strikes as HYDRA finds Bucky, and when they try to find Steve they also find out that unfortunately he has been kidnapped by HYDRA too. And so their first mission begins.
