"Who do you think?" Maleficent's lips folded grimly and she moistened them with her tongue. "Pitch has been active lately, and since we are related to him by magic, we must be careful. Relation by magic is never good." Her words were quick and panicked. I gulped and nodded as she continued. "Jack is one of the Guardians, so you should be safe, but I fear Pitch is up to something. Keep him close..I doubt that old man is retiring soon." "But what do you think Pitch is up to?" I reasoned, "How do you know he's up to anything at all?" Her hand grasped my wrist, and two fingers felt my rapid pulse. "Do you feel it?" She whispered and the staccato silence set in. "The anxiety coursing through your veins? It's in the both of us. And guess who we're getting it from?" Is he really up to something? The last I saw of Pitch, he was crippled and solemn. I couldn't imagine his gold eyes, filled with madness as he fought the Guardians at full power. The pain. The vengeance. But the vexation...I did feel it..and I knew one thing: Pitch was the king of Fear. Titles were not taken away so easily. I stepped back, and my arm fell to my side. "Fine, go find Pitch, and be careful. If Pitch has really lost his sanity, let's not lose each other." "I don't plan on it." She smiled, and pulled a stray hair away from my face before releasing my shoulders and stepping aside to let me pass. Her flames had vanished, and I strolled out of the room calmly. I shot across the dazzling sky filled with blinking stars and the faint light of dawn etched in the atmosphere. Up here it was cool, and the air burned my lungs upon entry. It was a comforting feeling, the cold didn't bother me anyway. I was so high wisps of low clouds shot past and parted from me bursting through them. Some of them parted to reveal the full moon, shining above, looking over all. It's gaze pierced and blinded me with the force of a thousand suns, all collected in spite of humanity's limitations. My gaze was directed in front of me, and I froze. Because I had just seen the face of the most beautiful person alive.
