[EXCERPT - FIRST 5 CHAPTERS] THE FULL BOOK IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN STORES AND ONLINE! Never trust a guy in spandex. In Abby Hamilton's world, superheroes do more than just stop crime and save cats stuck in trees - they also drink milk straight from the carton and hog the television remote. Abby's older brother moonlights as the famous Red Comet, but without powers of her own, following in his footsteps has never crossed her mind. That is, until the city's newest vigilante comes bursting into her life. After saving Abby from an attempted mugging, Morriston's fledgling supervillain Iron Phantom convinces her that he's not as evil as everyone says - and that their city is under a vicious new threat. As Abby follows him deeper into their city's darkest secrets, she comes to learn that heroes can't always be trusted, and sometimes it's the good guys who wear black.

Love & Monsters is a story I worked on when I took my first novel writing class at UCLA. Since I lost my sister to suicide, I've been fascinated with exploring mental illness and providing any insight I can to eradicate the stigma. Love & Monsters follows Heather Bateman, a girl who has suffered from schizophrenia all her life but has only recently been diagnosed. She tries to socially recover from a very public mental breakdown with the help of her best friend Wren and a strange new boy who calls himself Nex.

Heroes. Ever since they showed up, people have gone soft. They're adored, worshipped. Devotion is showered upon them like rain. It's about time someone knocks them off that pedestal they stand on, someone to crush their pillars of faith. Someone like me. A villain. It's perfect. I'll be the undoing of heroes. ≠ disclaimer: very much needs to be edited, very much needs to be less corny and very much needs to be entirely rewritten by me. if you approach it as a goofy, corny, old 2015-esque superhero book then it'll be a great time. i'll be honest and say there are no pulitzers here. completed ✓ highest rank in sf: #9 cover: @narwhelly

"We all wear masks, and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing some of our own skin." - André Berthiaume. Unfortunately, when the Invisible Hand calls himself a super villain, he means it. He is totally, irrevocably, 100% evil. Even though he does stupid things to get a girl to laugh... Even though he took her to Iceland to see the Northern Lights... Even though he saved her life not once, but twice... He still dropped her off the Chrysler Building and left her to die. That girl was me. Ari Callahan has no idea how to talk to boys -- or how to talk to anyone for that matter. Enter Zac, the cute new guy in town who won't stop texting her. But is his interest real, or does he have a hidden agenda? ***** Found as a young child washed up on the beach, 17-year-old Ari Callahan has never uttered a word out loud to anyone -- not even her adoptive family. Psychologists have diagnosed her with a condition called selective mutism, but Ari can't help identifying with her namesake character, Ariel, the little mermaid in the fairytale whose voice was stolen by a sea witch. Mermaid-obsession aside, Ari's silence makes socializing tough. She's never had a boyfriend or been asked out on a date. Not until Zac, the confident new arrival in town, asks for her number. But Zac has his own reasons for texting with Ari. He's part of a movement to sabotage the artificial music app called SirenSong, threatening to render human singing obsolete. Zac's collaborators have scoured the globe in search of a singing voice perfect enough to break the SirenSong spell, and their search has led them straight to Ari's beachside town. Will her relationship with Zac help Ari find her voice and unlock the secrets of her origins? Or will he use her and leave her high and dry? Title: Ari and Zac (formerly The Mermaid Hypothesis) Content Warning: This story contains references to selective mutism, suicidal thoughts, and early childhood trauma.

Six high school students. One impossible mission. And a power they never asked for... Kidnapped by the ruthless bio-terrorist group NEMESIS, the teens are exposed to a new element called Primonium-unlocking abilities only the rarest of humans, known as Primes, could possess. NEMESIS plans to unleash Primonium into the atmosphere, creating thousands of superhumans and reshaping society on their own twisted terms. Rescued by Atlas Corp., a private military organization dedicated to stopping NEMESIS, the six teens are thrust into a world of danger, espionage, and powers beyond their imagination. As new Primes, they must progress with their abilities, trust each other, and confront a rising threat that could kill millions. From high school parties to global battlefields, these six heroes must stop NEMESIS before the world changes forever. Evolution isn't a choice-it's a responsibility. And the clock is ticking. 🧬🧬🧬 Red Skies is a semi-grounded superhero story with some light progression elements. Think of it as Captain America meets X-Men meets Power Rangers meets My Hero Academia. There will be three books in the series, each of somewhere in the realm of 30-35 chapters apiece. The series contains 3 POVs, each dealing with different themes, character development, and aspects of the story. Chapters are 2,000-3,000 words, every Saturday at 12 PM EST.
