In Peabody, Massachusetts, Luna Aldridge shares a home with her boyfriend, Kyle Tuttle. Sensing that something is off, she feels a stirring within, a yearning for something beyond. Driven by this, she seeks Laura and Victoria advice, the Salem Witches. The witches, with eyes like chips of ice, and the air around them thick with the scent of old herbs and a faint cackling energy, advise her to write in a journal, believing it will sharpen her psychic senses. Following their counsel, she met Geo. Sunlight glinted off his spectacles as she listens to his advice, schooling her in the craft, while his presence gave her a low hum of warning. The air hummed with an unseen energy. With each sunrise, she explores true magic. As she delved into psychic witchcraft, the drama unfolds through her visions; a swirl of dark images. Kyle's odd actions, a nervous energy she can feel in the air, stokes her suspicion. His every move was a shadow, a secret held tight. Guided by the Salem witches, she refines her psychic abilities and learns to sense psychic energy. Receiving the witch relics following a ritual they performed, she feels a magnetic pull from the relics, even as Kyle confesses to the secrets he had been keeping. The house is safe. The hills outside are not. The basement is out of the question. Joel has been trapped in the house for what has felt like an eternity; all hope of escaping lost after the first few years. Without the company of the eight strangers who arrived with him, he would have gone mad long ago. But while living in the decrepit building is taxing, nothing could be worse than the thing downstairs. Everyone is content to just live in the six rooms that they know are safe until Joel learns that there may be something below. Something other than the creature that torments them. The house goes deeper, further down into the darkness. And while travelling through the unknown halls may be dangerous, and the thing downstairs is always following close behind, Joel is determined to find a way out of the nightmare he's found himself in; for his own sake, but more importantly, the sake of the people he loves. Ella awaits her husband whom she's acquired through an arranged marriage. Her overbearing mother suffocates Ella as she waits, uncomfortable in her corset and hair powder. Ella is terrified. She's very young and not ready for this. At all. But tradition dictates she must abide. Stravos Burke is her groom-to-be. Unbeknownst to Ella, she'll be marrying a stand-in for Stravos. The standard among the elite is to send a stand-in when the groom has been conscripted or has chosen to join the war effort. Jonah, the groom's best-friend-turned-stand-in, arrives a bit late to his (or Stravos') wedding with torn and dirtied hose. To Ella's surprise, her groom is breathtaking, gentle, and kind. The only problem, aside from the fact that she doesn't know him, is that she is supposed to be marrying another man. Both Ella's family and Stravos' family refer to Jonah as "Stravos." Even Jonah cannot tell Ella who he really is. If Stravos returns from war, he will take his rightful place as Ella's husband. Jonah would be dismissed. Ella would be left with a stranger once more. This is not erotica. Just to clear that up. But it does have some disturbing elements to it. This is a work-in progress. I'll be releasing section as I write them:)
