Set a year after the events of Resist. I am the Commander of XCOM, the protectors of Earth. In 2015, we failed to prevent the alien invaders from taking over. For 20 years they have lied to the people while XCOM lay dormant, gathering intel. Central Officer John Bradford rescued me and together we took our home back from the invaders. Now he is missing. It didn't take us long to realise that the forces on Earth was merely a taste of what the invaders were capable of. There is a greater force out there and we have very little time. After he threw himself off the Nemisis when he sustained a fatal injury, Shockwave awakens in a new body on a new planet but he isn't alone. He makes peace with the disassembly drones that live on the planet as well as take an angsty worker drone under his wing and soon discovers the existence of the Absolute Solver, an eldritch force of an A.I with an unknown origin that poses a great threat to the known universe.
