This story takes place right after love fade mines has in the fifth Vampire Academy book; Spirit bound. Lissa gets pissed off at Rose's behavior telling her to leave Dimitri alone. Rose takes her suggestion to heart and leaves the court, and hasn't been seen or heard from in six long years. Rose is different then her old self. She is a mother by day and a hunter by night.
