Hypno and Warren had tried stealing a weird artifact, but instead of Leo goofing off he let his team help and so they got it back successfully. So, in this time line the krang invasion never happened. And Splinter put the artifact somewhere safe. Since then, Donnie has been practicing their mystic powers a bit more. It has been three years since the betrayal and disappearance of Donatello. His brothers are already to his ausence in the team, but hey didn't expect what they were going to find on one of their missions

Everything from this point and on will take place after the ROTTMNT movie, if you haven't already, please go watch the movie to understand the context behind some of these situations. Some of my personal headcanons will be thrown in here as well :) Summary: The brothers are now at home resting and healing from the big Kraang battle, Raph is blind in one of his eyes, Mikey is getting physical therapy to learn how to use his hands again, and Leo's shell is being healed. Donnie being the only one who wasn't incredibly injured decided to take all responsibility of stopping villians, even after promising to his little brother that he wouldn't leave the lair.
