On her 5th birthday her mother told her mother she was going to the meat section of the grocery store and to stay where she was. That was the last time she saw her mother. Jadeyn had to find her way in the world by herself, with no one. She had no idea she had two older brothers in the world, and she had a child to take care of - Rowen Mills. But a terrible thing happens and she lands right in the arms of a man she feels like she knows, but can't figure out how because she has never been in Chicago before. Jay got a quick glimpse of the girl in his arms, they both have the same green eyes. He can't get over the fact that he feels like he has to be there when she wakes up. That he needs to protect her. This story is out of the characters views. The book is mostly out of Jadeyn Mills's perspective but there are chapters with Jay Halstead and other characters as well.
