Imani is the kind of woman people fear before she even speaks.
An Alpha raised to lead, to fight, to survive. Everything about her is sharp edges, controlled anger, calculated decisions, and the weight of responsibility sitting permanently on her shoulders. She keeps people distant because distance is safer. Cleaner. No weaknesses. No attachments.
Then Eve happens.
Eve is human in every way Imani no longer knows how to be. She's warm without trying, stubborn without fear, and far too observant for Imani's comfort. As a nurse, Eve spends her life taking care of others, but around Imani, she refuses to simply obey or stand quietly at the sidelines.
That's what unsettles Imani most.
Eve doesn't fear her.
She argues with her. Challenges her. Looks at her like she's more than just an Alpha. And slowly, against all reason, Imani starts depending on that softness, on Eve's presence, her voice, the calm she brings into rooms that usually feel cold.
But their dynamic is far from gentle.
Imani is possessive without meaning to be.
Eve is caring without realizing how deeplyu it affects her.
They clash constantly, power against patience, instinct against emotion, yet somehow every argument pulls them closer instead of apart.
To the outside world, Imani looks like the one protecting Eve.
But in reality, Eve becomes the only thing keeping Imani from losing herself completely.
