The world's glitching-and it's no one's fault but mine. Or, well, kind of mine. Zay, my ex-best friend (maybe something more?), had this idea-upload his mind into some corporate AI thing to save humanity. Spoiler: it didn't work. Now he's gone. Or, at least, the real him is. But the glitch? It's messing with everything. It's not just machines talking to me anymore. It's memories, my memories, bleeding into the world, and every time I hear Zay's voice, it's like I'm about to lose myself, too. I'm supposed to fix this. I don't know how yet, but I'll find a way. I have to. It's a race against time, a deep dive into digital hell, and a fight to save what's left of the world-and maybe figure out what happened to Zay along the way. - #1 snarky <3

Good morning, I'm Kalliope Aoidós (yes, spelled like this: Καλλιόπη Ἀοιδός... pretty impressive, right?), Technical Account Manager at a company in... well, I'm sure you don't really need my CV for this. Let's try again. Hey, I'm Kalliope Aoidós, and I've got a little problem. Okay, more like an incurable, family-heritage problem. Technically, it's genetic-something my family has been conveniently passing down for centuries. One of my great-great-great-great-grandparents thought it was totally appropriate to insult his muse, calling her a "good-for-nothing" and a "sellout." How charming, right? Too bad that muse was THE Muse after whom I'm named. Apparently, she's not exactly the warm and fuzzy type. So why on earth do I have the honor of carrying the name of the one who cursed my entire family tree? Oh, that was my grandmother's brilliant idea. In a way, they "sacrificed" me to her by giving me her name, hoping it would change her mind about the curse. Spoiler alert: It didn't. So here I am, just like hundreds of my ancestors, stuck in the same lovely swamp. I'm a Book-Jumper or, as my grandmother (who has a flair for dramatic epithets) likes to call me, a βιβλιοποδητής, which basically means "walker of books." And these are my stories. Or, more accurately, my delightful misadventures. Copyright 2025 AnemoneMarino. All Rights Reserved. [Amazing cover by @shedrawscartoons] BOOK 1 OF THE HORKOS TETRALOGY Four teenage friends make a pact to commit suicide together when their family struggles have them stifled to no end. Ten years later, they reenact the pact following their school's jubilee cum reunion, only to awaken a malevolent entity known as The Horkos. 🍀 A decade ago, four teenagers; Ha-ra, the perfectionist drowning under her mother's cruel expectations; Kiel, the star athlete masking his father's violence; Yosef, the survivor grappling with guilt and suffering recurring nightmares; and Cyan, the unwilling heir, etched a suicide pact in Waltham High's old derelict gym. They survived the attempts they took, but the scars never faded. A decade later, back to the school's gleaming campus for its jubilee slash reunion, a drunken push leads them to reenact the pact, laughing through tears. But when the new oath settles, something changes. The Horkos awakens. Form shifting between shadow and a version of themselves, they are left to grapple with the weight of their oath. It feeds on everything they give; their regrets, guilt, the oath itself, twisting the vow they longed to abandon into a curse. Complete the pact, or watch everyone you loved die in your place. But as the entity tightens its grip, the friends uncover a darker truth. Their pact was never private. The Horkos has lurked in Waltham's soil for centuries, binding oath-breakers to its ledger. To survive, they must commit to their oath or let one bear the full cost. Death had never been a choice for them. Only a sentence.
