Book 1: At the Edge of Misery Cristine Daya Gerrard, a young residency doctor in the apocalypse must mend the pieces with her broken and estranged family, while fighting for her place in a community that doesn't accept her. One man in particular does his best to make sure that she leaves the Ranch, but Cristine isn't someone who goes out without putting up a fight. She finds a way to make herself irreplaceable for Broke Jaw Ranch, so that she remains safe and alive from the threats not only outside, but inside the supposedly safe walls. WARNING: Mature and triggering themes will be present in this story. Racism, misogyny, violence, abuse and the like. This is The Walking Dead universe, so that's to be expected. So if you're easily triggered, don't read! I won't be placing many trigger warnings in my chapters. I only own my original characters and the non-canon plots of this story. First half of the story takes place shortly after the start of the apocalypse. Fear the Walking Dead Pre-Season 3 | Troy Otto x OC

Book 3: Flesh And Bone "You said you had my back." Cristine felt her scalp tingle, neck and facial muscles pulled tight. This conflicting feelings of helplessness and being cornered annoying her greatly. Everything Troy said made her angry and if it was before she wouldn't care about any of this. She'd stay as far away from him as possible and watch it all crash and burn before escaping with her family. But they had a mutual respect for one another now. That's what Cristine liked to believe until Troy smashed it like some cheap vase in barely a few days. Cristine felt betrayed and sickened by his actions. She should have been used to people disappointing her, but this time hurt her more than usual and Cristine didn't understand why. "Was that a lie?" Troy asked genuinely. "No," Cristine felt something tickle at the base of her throat and her eyes stung. "But I'm not going to pretend that what you did is okay. It'll never be okay Troy. Do you get that?" Book 2: Children of Violence Cristine her heart thumped. She could hear blood passing through her ears - thump, thump, thump-and looking down saw her red coated chest moving up and down. She even tasted textured meat that was never meant to be chewed on by a human. She noticed how her dirty hands shook around her upper legs and inhaled. Her vision became blurry when she looked at the calm Troy. Suddenly, she was hot and sweaty, so hot and sweaty that she wanted to run. But as soon as she tried to stand it left her body unsteady. The trembling traveled down into her legs and hips, leaving her shaky. She felt weak, as if everything just drained out of her. Yet, her heart seemed to pound even faster, even harder. She tried taking a deep breath to calm herself, but her inhales were sharp and shallow. Her vision went darker and narrow again, like a kaleidoscope. "Breathe," Troy calmly said. "You did good." He earnestly complimented. Fear the Walking Dead Pre-Season 3 | Troy Otto x OC Recommended read before starting this book: At the Edge of Misery

Book 4: The World We Live In "Troy, stop," Cristine demanded. She didn't look at him, not even when she felt him cage her entirely between the door and himself, arms at either side of her body with his hands pressing into the door. Her eyes fluttered from the building pressure in her sockets. The upper corner of her lips twitched from holding back her urge to scream and cry at the same time. This wasn't right. Troy saw it all in front of him like a recorded movie and whispered, "not until you tell me the truth. Say that I'm right." Cristine didn't say anything for a long time and didn't want to argue, not when she wasn't sure what it would mean if she would fold under Troy's pressure and admit it. The familiar streak in his voice made her breath hitch. It was the tone that balanced on the fringe of reason and excited madness. Cristine bit her lower lip and glared at the floor. She didn't want to talk about this anymore, not when emotions started to run high and the thread of reason and insanity blurred. It was like toppling into the depth of everything dark and perverse of waiting to swallow them both whole with imminent ruin and self-destruction. Like always, they were operating at Troy's pace.
