After The Mind Flayer was defeated, Vecna, a more blood thirsty villain took over the brain of Will. Will struggled to control Vecna's control and managed to do so well through a few months. But as Will's love for Mike became stronger, he was caught at a weak spot where Vecna could take him easy peasy. Only one person can save him now... And that's Mike.
