"For a place called Paradise City, this island sucks. I don't think a single day has gone by that I haven't thought about stabbing the shit out of myself," he said. "Especially since I'm forced to live with you every second of every day." "Sh. I'm trying to science," I said, not looking up from my binoculars. "See anything interesting?" "Not really. My vision's a little clouded from the fog and rain clouds you constantly emit." He laughed. "You never fail to amuse me, Rea." "But you just said-" "I just said you make me want to stab myself. Interpret that however you'd like." With a love for whales and all life (besides maybe humans), Reagan Winebrenner had never even seen an ocean until her senior year in high school. A few years later and an invitation to Paradise City in hand, Reagan has her entire summer laid out for her, working on the project of a lifetime. {COMPLETE} First of all: The Divergent Series doesn't belong to me but the amazing Veronica Roth. Second of all: Tris never dies, Four never dates Christina, Caleb will always be a Erudite. Third of all: Disclaimer: I respect Ms. Roth's ending, but I still love Tris, so here I am. I also don't own Divergent. EXCERPT FROM TOBIAS' POV: 'That is how I lost my temper. I couldn't stand her. Or David. Or The precious, ever-so-worthy Bureau. I punched her square in the nose, and she fell. Weakling. Do these so-called Pures know how to fight? I kick her, until someone pulls me away. I hear them mutter, "stupid Dauntless soldiers. Why is this my job, taking them to David?"' EXCERPT FROM TRIS' POV: 'Mom?" I say, softly, and she embraces me. But this time it is not a tug towards death, but rather the opposite. A string to life. "Beatrice," she says, and I break from the hug. "I just wanted to say to you that I am so proud of you, Beatrice. You are strong, brave, intelligent, and beautiful. I can tell you are going to have a great future with Tobias." Then she says to me what she said to me a month ago, an hour before I had met Tobias/Four, and exactly 50 minutes before I had met Christina. "I love you. No matter what." My arms wrap around her again, and we embrace until she fades, and I get back into reality. But before I fall out of the dream I say "I love you, too, Mom. I always will."'

The world ended a long time ago. Some humans survived. But in order to do so, the original Survivors enhanced themselves with animal DNA, adopting traits that allowed them to live in this mutated wilderness of giant Beasts and vast, unexplored swathes of jungle-AKA, the Wold. With cat claws, ears, and a lot of anxiety, she's on the run to avoid death or slavery at the hands of human purists in the Capital. And, she just might have accidentally set out to save the rest of her kind along the way. When she encounters Stone on her quest, a brooding wolf-boy who relies on knives and sarcasm to fight his way through the Wold, she may get a lot more than she signed up for, as he decides to accompany her along on her quest. No one ever said what would happen when dragons and aliens meet. And no one told me that I would be in the middle of it. Tasha was studying hard to get through her last year of university when she was kidnapped. She certainly didn't expect to wake up with four feet and wings. Mad scientists are bad enough, but things get even more complicated when aliens appear and wipe out the human race. Is there a way for her to hide her true identity in this new world while retaining her humanity? --------------------- Sneak Peek: I jumped over the lip of the tray and beat down hard with my wings. I had expected to only slow my fall; I had not expected to end up gaining so much height. I squawked in surprise and spread my wings wide in alarm before gravity regained its hold on me. With several awkward back-winging motions of my wings, I landed lightly on the floor. Well, at least I know my wings work. I glanced at the man in the corner as he was scribbling quick notes. I turned around to regard the tray again. They say practice makes perfect. With another hop and a single wingbeat, I managed to land in the sand tray with fanned wings slowing my momentum. That was much more graceful. But a wing-assisted hop wasn't true flight. And I still wasn't on the windowsill. ---------------------------- Entire semi-polished draft can be read on Wattpad.
