No, I know Miguel. I married a man I can confidently recite the biblical history thereof. I know every crevice of his smile lines and the innermost dramas of Alchemax's workplace. I know the secret handshake he shares with our daughter, know the way he hums when he cooks, know the way he kisses me when he gets home from work. I know Miguel, I do. I know him. But this is not Miguel. In which Y/n O'Hara has to come to terms with the fact that her husband died doing a job she didn't know about and is replaced by a starry-eyed alternate version of him from another reality. Oh, and this version's a vampire, too. ------- Miguel O'Hara X Reader Reader uses she/her, is afab contains spider-man: across the spider-verse spoilers

"The Tell-Tale Heart" is a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in 1843. It is relayed by an unnamed narrator who endeavors to convince the reader of his sanity while simultaneously describing a murder he committed. The victim was an old man with a filmy "vulture-eye", as the narrator calls it. The narrator emphasizes the careful calculation of the murder, and he hides the body by dismembering it, and hiding it under the floorboards. Ultimately, the narrator's feelings of guilt, or a mental disturbance, result in him hearing a thumping sound, which he interprets as the dead man's beating heart. Cover by the lovely @FayLane.

You'd had big plans for your future. He'd had big plans, too. During senior year, you'd overheard him talking before class about joining the Army. You had thought about him in that service uniform and how handsome he would look. Thirteen years later, Clyde was tending bar, sans uniform and missing part of his left arm. At the same time, you were working at the data-entry/call-center down the road from the house you inherited from your late grandmother. So much for big plans.
