Wilbur was tired of being a hero. He liked to believe that he was a good hero, but being a good hero wasn't enough. It was never enough. Always compared to his twin brother, the golden child of the Minecraft Hero Family. Wilbur lived in Techno's shadow. He hated it so much and he wasn't sure how much more he could take. He wanted to be seen for who he was. He was Wilbur goddamn Minecraft, and he refused to let himself be a side note in someone else's story. Villains had one right; the right to choose a nemesis. A thesis to their anti-thesis. A rival. His subordinates always questioned why he chose Magpie. He never bothered to explain. He had met the hero once, and that was all it took. The eldest of the Minecraft children was so much more than anyone realized. There was a deep running fury hidden under his mask. The hero was fast approaching his breaking point. That, is why Quackity chose him. Wilbur Minecraft was going to fall soon, and he was going to fall hard. And Quackity would be right there waiting, ready to catch his songbird when he did. He replied, choosing to ignore the feeling of anxiety at the realisation that was the most he had talked throughout their meeting. 'Alright mate. Oh, and please call me Phil. Sir makes me sound older than I actually am.' Now, he must learn how to trust his newfound family and find that it's okay to be dependent on others. But after so many years of only relying on only himself, Wilbur struggles to do that. With as much strength as she could muster, she takes a deep struggling breath and repeats it with a hefty struggle, each sound wobbly and wheezy. She doesn't even make it to the coos before she feels like she's suffocating. Memories of bright yellows, soft browns, green, red and black flash through her mind and she tries again, except this time she skips all of it entirely and hoots once. It's a deep sound, if one weren't used to it or hadn't known better, it probably would have sounded scary. But she knows these kids. These fledglings. Of course she does. They're hers. She takes another quiet breath and attempts it again, but it's much quieter this time, and Phil ushers her to stop, or she could potentially hurt herself even more. If her breathing was already raggedy and troubled, now it was labored, as if she'd just finished running a marathon.
