This book picks up where Fallen Kingdom left off, minus Maisie, who for the story has been taken by social services. Owen and Claire have to learn how to navigate their new, confusing relationship after a second dinosaur attack, this time on the mainland. With dinosaurs now roaming through the country, not only do the two lovers have to learn how to navigate their tricky feelings, but they also have to navigate a land of dinosaurs, a land no longer theirs.

At Ben's house, during his birthday party, Claire and Owen go down memory lane, recalling their moments after the two disasters. The pain that had been lingering from their breakup in July 2015 to before their reunion in 2018, after the death of the Indoraptor and the court ruling of the Neo-Jurassic Era, the evolution of Claire, Owen and Maisie as a family, and the refound love between the 2 that had been lost for 3 years.
